In Austria and Hungary, Santa’s got an evil twin. Krampus punishes bad children before Christmas, carrying chains and baskets to haul the naughty ones back to hell. Usually a horned devil-like creature, Krampus can also take the form of a wild bearded man or a big hairy beast. In fact, many European countries are familiar with some sort of evil in place of our jolly Santa Clause. After all, what better feeling is there during the holidays than fear?
